Cleaning & Turnover Cost Calculator

Cost per turnover, monthly and annual cleaning cost, and your margin versus the cleaning fee you charge guests.

What do these mean?

Example: 3 hours × $25 + $15 laundry + $10 supplies = $100 per turnover. With a $90 cleaning fee, you lose $10 each time.

How it works

Every guest checkout costs labor, laundry and restocking. This calculator shows whether the cleaning fee you charge actually covers a turnover after the platform takes its cut. Platforms charge their fee on cleaning fees too; see our Airbnb and Vrbo host guides for current rates.

The formula

Cost per turnover = hours × hourly rate + laundry + supplies + other
Monthly cost = cost per turnover × turnovers; annual = monthly × 12
Margin = cleaning fee × (1 − platform fee %) − cost per turnover

FAQ

Should my cleaning fee cover the whole turnover?

Many hosts set it near their true turnover cost. A fee far above cost can make your listing look expensive on short stays.

Why include the platform fee?

Airbnb and Vrbo charge their host fee on the cleaning fee as well as the nightly rate, so you keep less than you charge.
